  2. What is the best configs for tf2? I honestly can run this game with chris' config with dxlvl8 and have around 30 - 40. But I want to get more fps with dxlevel 9 on as well. I really don't care how my game looks like honestly so I don't mind if it looks ugly as ♥♥♥♥.

Ultra low settings are graphic settings which can be enabled through the game's menus, the developer console or the game's launch options. These settings can help your computer run the game smoothly.

Set Launch Options

A visual guide on how to set launch options (indicated by the green areas).
  1. Right-click on the game title under the Library in Steam and select Properties.
  2. Under the General tab click the Set launch options... button.
  3. Enter the launch options you wish to apply (be sure to separate each code with a space) and click OK.
  4. Close the game's Properties window and launch the game.

Common Launch Options

  • -autoconfig - Restores video and performance settings to default for the current hardware detected. Ignores settings inside any .cfg files until this parameter is removed.
  • -dxlevel <level> - Forces a specific DirectX version when launching the game. This is useful if your graphics hardware is older, and gets significantly better performance in an earlier version of DirectX. Below are the most common modes used:
  1. -dxlevel 80
  2. -dxlevel 81
  3. -dxlevel 90
  4. -dxlevel 95
  • -fullscreen - Forces the engine to start in fullscreen mode.
  • -windowed or -sw - Forces the engine to start in windowed mode.
  • -w <width> - Forces the engine to start with resolution set to <width>.
  • -h <height> - Forces the engine to start with resolution set to <height>. This launch option does not need to be set in the presence of -w. The width value will determine the height automatically.
  • -refresh <rate> - Force a specific refresh rate.
  • -novid or -novideo - When loading the game with this parameter, the intro Valve video will not play.
  • -sillygibs Enables low violence.

General

Team Fortress 2 has similar gameplay as previous releases in the series due to its focus around two opposing teams competing for a combat-based objective. In the game's fiction, the teams are composed of mercenaries hired by two feuding brothers to protect the company assets belonging to one brother while trying to destroy those of the other; the teams are thus represented by the names of these companies: Reliable Excavation & Demolition (RED) and Builders League United (BLU). Players can choose to play as one of nine character classes in these teams, each with his own unique strengths, weaknesses, and weapons. In order to accomplish objectives efficiently, a balance of these classes is required due to how these strengths and weaknesses interact with each other in a team based environment.
